Launch of the Paediatric Association of Sierra Leone (PASL) – 3 May 2024

The programme was chaired by Dr. Lynda Farma-Grant, Programme Manager for the National Child Health Programme at the Ministry of Health, who was formally introduced by Dr. Mariama Mustapha. The ceremony opened with prayers and reflections honouring the pioneers whose efforts laid the foundation for paediatric advancement in Sierra Leone.

An inspiring opening address was delivered by the PASL President, Dr. Nellie Bell, followed by goodwill messages from sister organisations, both local and international. The keynote address and official launch were conducted by the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening child health services nationwide. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Dr. Lannes Kamara.

This historic launch signified more than the formation of an association; it heralded a collective commitment to unite paediatric healthcare professionals, researchers, government institutions, non-governmental organisations, and global partners. PASL aims to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge, promote best practices, and advocate for policies that prioritise the needs of every child in Sierra Leone, ultimately contributing to improved paediatric care and the long-term wellbeing of future generations.
